BarackObama NetworkingThis is a featured page

I just took a glance at Barack Obama's official website BarackObama.com for the first time and realized that the entire site is set up as a personal networking page. There is a blog, user profile setup, and a service that links people up with supporters of Obama by locality. These networking tools are providing people with more control over the election process without committing to any kind of physical presence at a rally or volunteer effort. HillaryClinton.com has a blog and login process as well, but does not have the same kind of personal profile and networking tool that Obama's site has. How do you think these networks will affect the election process? Will the local networks and blog be effective, or will it simply attract avid political web crawlers ? Do you think the network can be expanded and linked into sites like myspace and newsgroups to appeal to a wider audience?

I just blogged the same thing on the blog for Elizabeth's class...did you know Barack also has a flickr page? Barack's page is pretty cool...but it seems to have a few loose ends...you have to register as vollunteer and and blogger/online campaigner separately...which I think could easily be combined into 1 registration...
