In October, the Annenberg Program on Online Communities hosted our first salon. We gathered at the residence of Geoffrey Cowan, Dean of the USC Annenberg School, and his wife Aileen Adams, USC's Director of Arts and Culture Outreach.

The evening kicked off with comments made by experts on social networking. Jeff Berman, the Sr. Vice President of MySpace offered us the "inside scoop." Insights into the behavior of youth online were provided by danah boyd, the internet's everpresent expert on MySpace. The dialogue between Jeff and danah was enlightening, insightful, and of course entertaining. Jeff Cole, Director of Annenberg's Center for the Digital Future discussed some of the results of his recent worldwide study of internet usage.
